Chattanooga TN Newborn Photographer | Getting the perfect sibling images

I have been photographing these precious girls for years, and was so thrilled when I heard their family was adding a baby brother. These particular girls are seasoned pros at posing, as their parents are also photographers, but that is very rarely the case.

best Knoxville newborn photographer

Often times, clients come to us saying they really want those sweet sibling photos, but aren’t so sure their children will cooperate. This is very common, and generally, an easy obstacle to overcome. Lots of “older” siblings are still very small, themselves, and aren’t quite sure they want any part of this new baby or photos. We have a few tips and tricks up our sleeve to make sure you leave with those snuggly pictures you’ve been dreaming of.

We usually like to start with our bed scene. Clients love it, and kids tend to think it’s fun! Plus, the cozy softness adds that extra layer of safety, because you can never be too careful when photographing a newborn. Our studio assistant is always within arms reach for posing adjustments and to make sure she can access baby quickly while I’m behind the camera getting the perfect angles.

When siblings aren’t quite sure they want to try to hold baby, we will start by having them look at them or gently kiss them. This always creates photos with such a nice connection that parents love.

This big sister is still quite young, so we started baby brother on a soft surface and had her look at him and kiss his head. Then we went from there to gauge what else we could accomplish based on how sister was responding. She was responding well to direction, so with the help of my assistant, who is directly to the right of baby’s head in this photo, we let her “hold” him. This is still one of my favorite sibling images and we have this printed HUGE in the studio.

No matter their age or cooperation level, we tell parents not to stress it. We don’t get in a hurry, and do everything we can to accomplish those images you are hoping for. That’s what sets us apart!

McAllister Maternity Session

It’s that time of year again, when we venture outside and go on the search for those amazing sunsets to frame our sessions with a dramatic glow. There’s just something about the beauty of this area, combined with that golden presence that will make a person almost emotional.

Capturing this maternity session was such a gift. Often times, clients don’t realize that, while, yes, they are supporting you and your business, they are doing so much more than that. I loved hearing their pregnancy story, and how they thought they wasn’t going to be able to conceive without medical assistance. They had been trying for a baby for quite some time with no luck, so they decided to just relax and enjoy the season in their lives. Only to discover that a little relaxation and traveling did the trick! When they least expected it, they had conceived their sweet Lukas! SURPRISE! Isn’t it funny how it works like that sometimes?

We photographed their session at Chester Frost Park in Hixson, TN. It’s one of my favorite locations for maternity and family, and I’m sure you can see why. It’s simply gorgeous there!

Wrenley’s Cake Smash | Chattanooga Cake Smash Photographer | First Birthday Session

We have been photographing this sweet little man since birth and his family for many years before that! I always know it’s going to be a fun session when we start planning. His Mom had an idea in mind for “the first trip around the sun” and this was what we came up with. I enjoy decorating and designing these sets so much, and look how adorable it turned out.

All our cake smash sessions include decor to match your theme as well as custom cake from our amazing Chattanooga area baker.

As always, each birthday session includes a few organic scenes, just to capture a more classic look, as well. We want you to have something you can display year-round that goes with any home decor.

Happy Birthday Wrenny! We sure do love you!!

Chattanooga, TN Newborn Photographer | Henry

When Ashley contacted me about Henry’s newborn session, I knew immediately that she was my kind of girl! She had browsed the (at the time) neglected blog and told me her style and her favorite sessions we had photographed. She wanted something natural and timeless, and those are my absolute favorites.

You might not believe it, but he’s 8 weeks old here. Yes, you can still achieve newborn style photos with “older” babies. I have had clients in the past tell me that they’ve actually been turned away by other photographers because the baby is over 2 weeks old. Um, what? Not me! We LOVE older babies!! We are skilled enough to know just how to approach these sessions. Sure, they might be a little harder to get to sleep, a little less flexible, and that’s perfectly okay. But would you just look at that amazing skin tone and that hair!! I’ll take it!!

We always enjoy capturing awake shots when we get the chance. All those facial expressions are priceless. They usually end up being some of the parents favorites. I can see why.

We also love capturing all the tiny details. The feet, hands, eyelashes (ohh, his lashes are wow!!) hair, ears, and especially the chub. Here at Tiffany Smith Photography we celebrate chub! In fact, we are obsessed with it.

He was the perfect little model. Smiling all the way through his session, as if he knew what his job was.

I also wanted to share that Henry’s mom has a fun blog that I’m sure you will enjoy. She is just so sweet, beautiful and full of pure joy, so the name suits her perfectly. http://www.lifewithashleyjoy.com

Thank you, Ashley, for sharing you little guy with us! We will see you in a few months for his sitter session!

Chattanooga, Tennessee Newborn Photographer | Samuel

Samuel is another baby that I was so very exited to meet. I was given the opportunity to photograph his brother, Jonah, several years ago. Jonah was one of the most adorable chunks of baby I had ever photographed, and little brother, Samuel, is no exception!

Look at how perfect and precious they are together. Big Brother is so proud of his little brother.

This is a shot that we always try to get when there are “smaller” older siblings who might not be ready to hold baby yet, but we still get some sweet (and safe) snuggles.

Jonah listened to every word we said, so we knew he was ready to hold little brother for a few photos. My assistant stays to the right, just a few inches away. (she’s even been edited out in some of these- baby’s safety and comfort is always #1)

Family photos are always high on the list for many clients, and I’m sure you can see why. They will grow and change, yet for this moment in time, those moments will be forever be still.

If this was my family, no doubt I’d order this printed as big as I could.

Samuel’s Mom really loved this color, so we incorporated it several times throughout his session. I actually had just recently bought this new fabric in preparation for them coming in, and while we were in the middle of the session, I actually ran to my craft room for a quick minute and whipped up this little matching hat, because I just had to.

The froggy pose. Always a favorite among our clients. Don’t let it fool you though, baby is never without hands on him from my assistant. This is just a whole lot of care and a little photoshop magic.

I love this basket so much right now. We bring it out for almost every session. I love the organic qualities of this set-up, the simplicity.

The details are so important. I love the hands, toes, facial features, and all that chub! I mean, let’s celebrate those rolls!!

Chattanooga, Tennessee Newborn Photographer | Clare

To say I adore this sweet family is an absolute understatement. Every time I have them in my studio, they leave such an impression on us that it’s hard to forget about. (We were lucky enough to capture their last two newborn sessions, as well.) I enjoy hearing their stories about living on their little farm and exploring outside most all day, every day. It takes me back to being a child and playing in the creek, pretending I was one of the characters in Bridge to Terabithia. I love their love! It’s so pure and uncomplicated, and is exactly the reason why newborn (and family) photography is so special.

Ohh my, this family! I am a little behind on blogging, but while taking a few days over Christmas break, I remembered I haven’t shared James yet. He is equally as adorable as his Big Brother, and look at that gorgeous head of hair.

I love the family photos from this session. So much love and adoration, and clients just adore the snuggly bed set-up.

This little doll did so good for her newborn session. We decided on a neutral color pallet with just a touch of purple (wrap and hat her Mom brought in, bottom) and I absolutely love the cohesiveness of it all.

Chattanooga Boho Maternity Photography | The Creasman Family

I have been photographing this beautiful family for over 5 years, and every time Brittany contacts me, I know it’s going to be a blast. We wanted to bring out little bit of a boho vibe to her maternity session, and I am absolutely obsessed with how they turned out. As always, the field at the Barn at Drewia Hill provides the most gorgeous landscape, and even though it was overcast, it turned out to be exactly the style we’d hoped for. I loaded up my egg chair in the back of my 4-runner and accepted the fact that pompas fuzz was going to be a part of me and my vehicle for quite some time, and off we went!

Glitter Minis Sessions | Chattanooga Child Photographer

I’ve been debating these sessions for years. They are so stinkin’ cute, but glitter… Well, we all know how messy glitter can be. After doing a trial run, I realized I don’t really care to clean up the mess because the results are ohh SO worth it! And it truly wasn’t even as messy as I thought it would be, anyway. Plus, little girls absolutely love glitter! They love crafting, and they think the messier it is, the more fun it is! hehe

We are super excited to be offering these minis one day only, Saturday, February 8 in the studio. The link to those can be found here, and as of right now we do have a few spots left. Once booked, we will also add you to our private facebook group where we will have links to dress suggestions, etc. We also have some studio dresses that you are welcome to borrow, including the dress pictured in a size 7 and size 5.

Maternity Photography in Chattanooga | The Garrison Family

I have been blessed to photograph this sweet family since they were pregnant with Miss Olivia. It has been so much fun watching her grow and develop a personality that I’d compare to sunshine on a warm Spring day. She’s just magnetic! They are awaiting the arrival of their little man, Knox.

This session was photographed at one of my favorite locations, The Barn at Drewia Hill in Sale Creek , Tennessee. (https://www.thebarnatdrewiahill.com) Seriously, this place never disappoints!!
